Dortmunder Beer brand refresh

 

BRIEF
Provide a brand refresh for Dortmunder Beer to find a balance between the traditional brewing methods while attracting a growing younger audience. Using the links to the city of Dortmund
and its landmarks.

SOLUTION
Dortmunder has been brewed to German Purity Laws since 1853. The Iconic ā€˜U’ symbol can still be seen all over the city. This symbol, along with a nod to the famous Borussia Dortmund Football team, became the focus of the new branding. Using a retro feel based on vintage posters and POS provided a good link to the heritage of the product, while using a very simple logo allowed the brand to be strong visually in a saturated market across a busy bar. The social media campaign focussed on using those strong block colours as a visually striking wayof breaking through the more traditional
lifestyle shots.
